Because the stories in the films were told in real-time by real-life Century 21 realtors, the V.O. is almost perfectly imperfect. These are non-professional storytellers spilling their stories with non-linear anecdotes and small details & emotions. The design duly reflects this stream-of-conscious presentation with an abstract, surrealist style that illustrates the key moments yet allows the audience to fill in the gaps with their imagination. It's less literal interpretation of plot points and more about visceral emotions and effortless transitions. The result is a fluid and elegant finished product.
Color plays a major role throughout. One key theme is the ubiquity of Century 21’s revamped brand color palette. Golds, grays, and beiges are awash in all of the films. But each film also comes with its own distinct color accent to drive the narrative forward and differentiate the stories—splashes of blue in the story about pipes bursting, dashes of orange to reflect the realtor’s hair color in for the chimpanzee story, forest green for the story about the US veteran.
A big part of the creative challenge was ensuring each story felt unique yet also congruent under the Century 21 brand umbrella. Through sophisticated storytelling & elegant use of color & design, that's precisely what we get—a series of films that not only possess distinctly Yves & Natalie stamps of directorial vision imprinted throughout, but that also feel pinpointedly on-brand for Century 21.
