In this music video for Ingrid Michaelson's downright delightful holiday duet with Zooey Deschanel, Hornet Director Andrea Love (and co-director Phoebe Wall) create a wooly love letter to all things merry & bright: needle felted fireplaces, cozy sweaters, and a stop motion story about two woodland creatures searching for the perfect Christmas tree.
Emmy-nominated singer Ingrid Michaelson is a well known Christmas-lover. In 2018, her holiday album "Songs For The Season" was released to much critical fanfare. In 2021, she decided to re-release a deluxe edition of the album with five new tracks—including an original duet alongside her friend & choral comrade Zooey Deschanel titled "Merry Christmas, Happy New Year." Her goal was to accompany the song's warm & fuzzy lyrics with a stop motion music video. And... well—what's fuzzier than felt?
Created over the course of three months in Andrea’s own home studio, the film is a shining example of the magic that happens when Andrea's wooly fiber aesthetic is paired with Phoebe's whimsical folksy designs. So, go ahead: bust out those tacky Christmas sweaters, and celebrate in stop motion style with Ingrid Michaelson, Zooey Deschanel, Phoebe Wall, and Andrea Love.

“My goal was to make it the cutest, coziest, warmest video ever. It’s supposed to be a little over the top, but almost in a ‘I can’t stop watching this and I need more’ kind of way.”
