Commissioned by the Slovenian Ministry of Culture to support the release of Slovenian trio YGT’s album “Sinking Ship”, this film, at its heart, is a music video for the album’s title track. But, for director Sam Mason, it’s much more.

Inspired by VR and civilization-building games, Sam conceived a lost world where monolithic blue hands threaten the eroded landscape and its peoples. This world is a recurring passion project for Sam—a place with complex characters, surreal landscapes, and mysterious mythologies. It’s a strange, somewhat eerie—but also eerily calming—atmosphere that perfectly supports the ethereal, haunting sounds of the song.

SURREAL 3D

The images are entirely computer generated, created through 3D scanning, motion capture, and simulation. The result is a collage of images with a simple but natural flow. Between the cloth modeling for the characters and the 3D scanning for the sets, the world achieves a wistful, almost wave-like quality that flirts the line between reality and complete surreality.
